On May 6th, the international students of SIE entered the porcelain carving art exhibition and experience hall of the School of Art and Design, and participated in the Experience Porcelain Carving Skills and Feel the Charm of Intangible Cultural Heritage organized by the Porcelain Carving Society of the Federation of School Societies.
Rong Lang, the head of the Porcelain Carving Club, introduced the historical origin and cultural characteristics of the porcelain carving process to the international students, shared the good news that Dafeng Porcelain Carving had successfully applied to become a national intangible cultural heritage last year, and led the international students to visit our school's national intangible cultural heritage. The porcelain engraving works of Mr. Chen Yinfu, the inheritor of non-genetic inheritance and Jiangsu Craftsman, have impressed the international students with their exquisite patterns and meticulous techniques.
Afterwards, everyone came to the experience area. With the help of classmates in the community, the international students learned the basic techniques of porcelain carving, and picked up a carving knife and a small hammer to experience the traditional skill of painting and carving.
This activity not only allowed the international students to appreciate the charm of intangible cultural heritage up close, but also deepened their understanding of the spirit of craftsmanship, which helped them to tell Chinese stories more vividly and spread Chinese voices.
