On April 17, the event Experiencing Traditional Culture and Feeling the Charm of World Heritage-2021 Expats in Dongtai organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Yancheng City was held in Dongtai City, Yancheng. 12 international students from our college were invited.
The first site is the Tiaozini Scenic Spot in Dongtai. Tiaozini Wetland has the world's largest intertidal wetland and is an important part of the World Natural Heritage-China's Yellow (Bo) Sea Migratory Bird Habitat (Phase 1). The international students learned about wetlands with the help of videos and brochures, observed birds foraging through binoculars, and experienced shellfish harvesting in wetlands.
Under the guidance of the instructor, our students visited the forest science museum, meta sequoia trail, and small wooden houses, and took a tour bus to shuttle through this dense forest, intact vegetation, and excellent ecological natural oxygen bar in the Dongtai Yellow Sea Forest Park.
At the 2021 Yellow Sea Forest Kite Festival, the international students listened to the historical and cultural knowledge of Chinese kites, watched a kite flying performance, and experienced the kite making process through drawing and coloring under the guidance of the kite intangible heritage master. When the colorful kites were flying in the sky, the international students experienced the fun of flying kites and had a more intuitive understanding of the intangible cultural heritage of kites.
This event allowed the international students to appreciate the ecological charm of the Yellow Sea Wetland in Yancheng at close range. The colorful activities, picturesque scenery and profound Chinese culture made the students linger. They all expressed that they would protect the natural environment, promote the ecological Yancheng, and spread Chinese culture.
